A determined professional and founder of Family Alliance, Incorporated, Carol Louise made tremendous strides in her efforts to assist families by providing an option that enabled them to keep their loved ones in their home environment for as long as possible, empowering the frail elderly to age in place. With a $1,000 budget and two volunteers, Family Alliance Senior Day Care opened its doors in 1981 in a church basement to serve two clients. Family Alliance, Inc. received its not-for-profit status in 1981 as the first and only day care service for senior citizens in McHenry County, Illinois. Directly attributable to the vision and determination of those community minded volunteers, Family Alliance, Inc. is celebrating its 33rd year of service in September 2015.

Relocating four times to compensate for increased service need, we are now located in an 11,440 square-foot, comprehensive geriatric health care center which includes the 3,900 square-foot wing that houses our Memory Care and Respite Program and Respite Services. An additional 8000 feet of operating space will open in a separate facility in Huntley, Illinois in August, 2014. A courtyard and memory garden opened in May 2006 and is used regularly by clients. Family Alliance staff was trained by the Chicago Botanic Garden in horticultural therapy, and Family Alliance is now the only facility in McHenry County to offer this activity. In 2009, Family Alliance teamed up with Main Stay Therapeutic Riding Stables to provide off-site Equine Therapy to our higher functioning clients. In 2014, we opened an additional facility in Huntley in order to make our services more accessible to the people in need of our services throughout our region.
