The Adult Day Health Program (ADHP) is central to Family Alliance’s concept of active adult wellness. In our efforts to encourage healthier lifestyles, Family Alliance provides comprehensive day services to meet the needs of adult individuals age 50 and over who may require more structure in their lives, or who may be isolated and at risk of depression, or in need of some physical assistance. The ADHP team includes registered nurses, certified nursing assistants, and activity specialists who will work with everyone to reach their personal potential.
With the assistance of the Family Alliance team, individuals can design their day based on their own preferences. Various activities are scheduled throughout each day on our program calendar. A typical day for one person may include connecting mind and body during morning tai chi exercises, immersing their creative side in a special art project, and discussing current events topics. Another person might favor the music appreciation group, playing cards, engaging in a book club discussion or learning meditative mind and body practices to relieve stress. In season, all can benefit from the uplifting variety of flora awaiting them in our award-winning garden patio, designed by the Chicago Botanic Garden.
Clients are offered door-to-door transportation services via buses staffed with Family Alliance employees certified in First Aid and CPR. In addition to transportation, the program offers a light breakfast and full lunch.
Program hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Participants can attend regularly up to 5 days per week, depending on their needs. Arrangements can be made to attend the program occasionally through our Occasional Care program.
